Celebrating the life of
David Craig McMillin
September 09, 1947 - December 07, 2016
David Craig McMillin, 69, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at home after a long illness.
He was born September 9, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan, and lived in Savannah during his later life. He served in the United States Navy and built a successful career as a Safety and Security Officer mostly at Saint Joseph’s/Candler healthcare system. He was a faithful member of Unity of Savannah where he served as a prayer chaplain. David’s sense of humor and sweet disposition earned him the love of everyone who knew him. He was known for immediately rising to his feet and praying with any of the nuns who crossed his path at work at St. Joseph’s. David was a wonderful dancer and a big fan of the Motown sound which was born, like him, in Detroit . A huge sports fan, he enjoyed football, baseball, and hockey. David rooted for the Detroit Lions and the Atlanta Braves and could recite baseball statistics with the best.Of Irish descent, his stubborn streak was almost always used for good, for he didn’t give up easily.
“May the road rise up to meet you, David. May the wind be always at your back.”
David was preceded in death by his father, Henry Clyde McMillin; his mother, Mildred Magner McMillin; his brother, Terry McMillin; and his sister, Mary Jane McMillin, all of Detroit.
He is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Brenda Thomas McMillin, of Savannah, Georgia, and three children: David McMillin, Jr., his wife Lynn Stapleton McMillin, and their daughter, Makenzie; Michael McMillin and his stepson, Mathias; and Kim and Carly McMillin; his stepdaughter, Robynn Thomas; and his sister and brother-in-law, Cynthia and Larry Camp.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 12, at Unity of Savannah, 2320 Sunset Boulevard, Savannah, Georgia 31404.
David requested cremation; there will be no interment.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in his memory to Unity of Savannah.
My condolences to the MCMillin family for the loss of your dear loved one. During this most difficult time, may your hearts be comforted by Jehovah God's promise to swallow up death forever, and to wipe away the tears from all faces(Isaiah 25:8). Also during the days to come, may Mr. McMillin's sweet memories fill your hearts with joy and peace.
- Thomas, Snellville, Ga.
With deepest sympathy as you remember David. Soon this earth will be transformed into a paradise. (Luke 23:42,43) And there is where those that we have lost will be resurrected young and healthy again. "There is going to be a resurrection," the Bible confirms at Acts 24:15. "Do not be amazed at this," Jesus assures us, "for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." (John 5: 28,29) By meditating on God's promises found in the Bible, you can find real hope and the strength to keep going. 1 Thessalonians 4:13. Caring thoughts are with you, Candace
